2nd Grade: Building Confidence, Curiosity, and Independence

Learning That Inspires Growth
Second grade is a year of building both academic skills and confidence. As students become more independent learners, they strengthen their ability to think critically, communicate clearly, and explore new ideas. Every lesson—from reading about ancient civilizations to solving multi-step math problems and investigating the natural world—helps students develop the knowledge, curiosity, and perseverance they'll carry into the years ahead.
English Language Arts: Students become confident readers and writers by strengthening vocabulary, grammar, and writing skills while exploring literature, history, mythology, and informational texts.
Math: Students build mathematical understanding through place value, operations, fractions, geometry, measurement, data, and multi-digit computation while developing problem-solving skills.
Science: Students investigate rocks, soil, insects, plants, and the properties of matter through hands-on exploration and scientific inquiry.
Social Studies: Students explore communities, citizenship, rights and responsibilities, and how goods and services support everyday life while developing an understanding of society.
