Eighth grade is about more than academic achievement—it's about preparing students for success in high school and beyond. As they analyze complex texts, solve challenging mathematical problems, investigate scientific phenomena, and examine pivotal moments in history, students develop the confidence, independence, and critical thinking skills that will serve them throughout their educational journey.
English Language Arts: Students strengthen reading, writing, and analytical skills through literature and informational texts while developing narrative, argumentative, and explanatory writing.
Math: Students build advanced mathematical reasoning through algebraic concepts, geometry, functions, data analysis, and real-world problem-solving.
Science: Students explore Earth and space science by investigating weather, climate, plate tectonics, Earth's systems, and engineering through hands-on scientific inquiry.
Social Studies: Students examine the foundations of American history and government, from exploration and colonization through the Civil War, while developing an understanding of the events and ideas that shaped the United States.

Human Growth & Development - Grade 8
The Health and Wellness course is a graduation requirement designed to promote overall well-being. The course emphasizes the importance of total health—mental, physical, and social—as essential to success in today’s society. Key topics include mental health, social health, nutrition, physical fitness, substance abuse, human growth and development, disease prevention, and community health and safety. Human growth and development content is embedded as a unit in the curriculum. Students will gain the knowledge and skills needed to develop and maintain healthy behaviors that support positive lifestyle choices.
